Senior Associate to Special Counsel (Insurance Law) A top-tier international law firm with a prominent presence in insurance law is seeking a seasoned Senior Associate or Special Counsel to join its Auckland office. We are looking for a highly experienced lawyer to bring their expertise in insurance and reinsurance law, regulatory matters, and complex litigation to our dynamic, globally integrated team.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide strategic advice on a range of insurance matters, including claims management, policy interpretation, and coverage disputes.
Represent major insurance companies in high-stakes mediations and arbitration, including complex liability and multi-jurisdictional cases.
Act as a thought leader in insurance law, contributing to firm-wide knowledge and driving best practices.
Mentor and support junior team members, fostering growth within the team and ensuring the delivery of exceptional client service.
Build and nurture strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor to clients and enhancing the firm’s reputation in the market.
Qualifications and Experience:
8+ years PQE with a focus on insurance law, gained in a reputable law firm.
Proven experience in managing complex cases from inception to resolution, including litigation, arbitration.
Strong understanding of New Zealand insurance regulations and the ability to advise on compliance and regulatory issues.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with an aptitude for building client trust and confidence.
Experience working within international law firms or cross-border environments is advantageous.
