He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role
As the Learning Solutions Manager you will lead learning transformation across KiwiRail, ensuring our workforce has the skills and knowledge to meet operational and regulatory requirements.

Working closely with senior leaders, technical experts, and external partners, you’ll:

  • Develop and implement strategic learning frameworks that enhance workforce capability.
  • Oversee compliance with industry regulations, qualifications, and technical training standards.
  • Provide insights into learning needs across business units, shaping tailored training solutions.
  • Lead a team of Learning Coordinators and ensure effective learning management system (LMS) training coordination.
  • Drive continuous improvement in training programmes, ensuring alignment with business goals.

We’re looking for a strategic thinker with a passion for learning and workforce development. To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • 3–7 years’ leadership experience in learning and development.
  • Strong knowledge of NZQA framework, training compliance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing learning strategies in complex organisations.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, including experience working with unions and regulators.
  • Strong analytical and reporting abilities to assess training needs and measure effectiveness.
  • A track record of successfully leading and coaching teams.
  • Preferred experience in rail, transport, or safety-critical industries.
