About the NDIB
An exciting opportunity exists to work within the National Drug Intelligence Bureau (NDIB). Mō te tūnga | About the role

  • We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Intelligence Analyst to enhance the capability of our team. This role would suit experienced Intelligence professionals wanting to work in a strategic and collaborative environment.
  • The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a dynamic multi-agency setting, have a passion for reducing the harm caused by illicit drugs, and have strong problem solving and communication skills.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Proactively identify and analyse emerging or escalating trends in drug related harm and propose potential solutions.
  • Produce nationally standardised intelligence products and contribute to the core intelligence reporting and deliverables of the unit.
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver high standard written reports, and provide clear and concise verbal briefings and presentations to a range of audiences.
  • Develop and maintain a strong network of professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders and work effectively with people from a range of backgrounds.
  • Display commitment to quality and continuous improvement in skills and ability.
  • Manage competing priorities and demands to deliver timely, relevant, and influential Intelligence.
  • Work with limited supervision on complex analytical problems.
  • Support colleagues to develop intelligence tradecraft and technical skills.
  • Provide peer review and quality assurance of intelligence products produced by the unit.
  • Champion diverse worldviews, different perspectives, and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, identifying opportunities to reflect these in intelligence products.

  • Applicants must be a NZ or Australian citizen, or a permanent NZ resident to apply for this position
  • Successful applicant must reside in Wellington.
  • Hold the NZ Diploma in Intelligence Analysis (NZDIA) or equivalent.
  • Able to obtain and maintain an appropriate national security clearance.

  Utu ā-tau | Salary
This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $102,808 - $106,864 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
