As a member of ASB's Financial Crime Operations team you will help protect ASB and its customers from the impact of Financial Crime. You will contribute in a meaningful way to the protection of Aotearoa New Zealand from organised crime, modern slavery, extreme right-wing groups, and other activity which places New Zealand at risk.
We have an exciting, 12-month fixed term opportunity within our Transaction Monitoring and Sanctions team.
Mo te tūranga | About the Role:
As a key member of the Transaction Monitoring & Sanctions (TM&S) team, you'll play a central role in shaping and executing ASB's Financial Crime and TM&S strategy. You'll be responsible for aligning business outcomes with regulatory requirements, driving continuous improvement, and delivering strategic initiatives across people, processes, and technology.
You will act as a subject matter expert (SME) and trusted advisor, ensuring that our TM&S function operates efficiently, compliantly, and in line with the bank's overall goals. This is a high-impact role where your influence will be felt across risk reduction, compliance, governance, and stakeholder engagement.

- Strategic Influence & Stakeholder Management
You're confident working across multiple levels and functions to align delivery with the overall vision. You bring clear communication, direction, and the ability to inspire buy-in.
- Subject Matter Expertise in Financial Crime / TM&S
You bring deep knowledge of AML/CTF frameworks, including regulatory expectations (FATF, AUSTRAC, etc.), and understand how to apply these in practical, risk-based ways.
- Operational & Project Delivery Strength
You can lead multiple workstreams, manage competing priorities, and balance delivery across systems, data, and people. You focus on first-time quality and long-term efficiency.
- Analytical & Critical Thinking
You're detail-oriented and methodical, able to design fit-for-purpose controls and governance structures while navigating complex compliance environments.
