Senior Software Engineer - Financial Crime Systems & Transformation Platform

We have an opportunity for a sharp minded technologist to join our Development chapter in a Senior Software Engineer position (Intermediate Engineer role). The role is embedded in the Sanctions squad, which is a key part of the Financial Crime Platform.

Financial Crime platform squads primarily focus on, prevention and management of the impact of financial crime happening. The Platform is divided into 3 domains which represent our 3 squads: Fraud, AML & Sanctions. Our squads support our Operations staff fighting financial crime on the front line.



Briefing of Sanctions squad at a high level:



The squad implement, configure, maintain, and support the applications used by Financial Crime Operations to make sure ASB complies with national and international regulations regarding sanctions. 



About the role: 



As a Senior Software Engineer, you will take the ownership and proactively manage the availability and performance of all supported technologies within a platform. This role is combination of Development and Operations, where you support Financial Crime systems day to day and make changes and improvements as required from project related work. Aligns with DevOps practices.



What you'll do:


  • Linux and Windows operating systems server support
  • Sanctions squad - Applications/Systems support
  • Provide on-call, 24-hour service as a shared responsibility with the team to ensure our technology is "always on".
  • Develop your technical competence using fault situations as an opportunity to learn.
  • Assist in the resolution of technical incidents and problems as Tiers 1 & 2 support.
  • Vulnerability management
  • Maintain and support Azure DevOps pipelines
  • Involvement in process management and improvement.
  • Comfortable working in a highly regulatory environment





About you:

Willingness to learn, proven initiative, knowledge sharing, documentation skills, problem solving abilities and leadership skills are what we look for in every engineer to lead from their position.

With regards to background, you will need the following capabilities:


  • 5+ years of experience as a systems engineer or software engineer.
  • Intermediate level Windows and Linux systems administration skills
  • Automation mindset to automate highly repetitive tasks
  • Scripting (PowerShell and Bash)
  • Deployment/release automation - Octopus, Ansible etc
  • Exposure to working with TFS, ADO or GitHub
  • Exposure to SQL Database or Oracle Database administration



These Capabilities Are Not Mandatory But Would Be Favourable


  • Experience working within Agile and DevOps frameworks
  • Exposure to Cloud Technologies
  • Any Azure Fundamental level certifications
  • Exposure and experience with Kibana (Elastic)
