The Platforms Domain enables BNZ tech teams and BNZ customers with infrastructure products, including cloud and on-prem, that are easy to use, resilient, secure, and fit for purpose. We adopt modern infrastructure as code practices and embrace automation and orchestration.

The Hypervisors & Backups team builds, runs and manages the bank’s on-premise infrastructure in the Auckland Datacentres. Our platforms deploy workloads and operate at scale. These are managed platforms which take away infrastructure management complexities from the teams who build the bank’s applications, allowing them to focus on delivering excellent customer experiences. We are focused on simplifying & modernizing our stack, while removing unnecessary blockers from teams through self-service.

We sat down with the People Leader (who you'd report to), and they let us know the following about the Role:

What are the day-to-day tasks the person will complete?

A big focus is on efficiencies, cost savings, and automation across the whole Infrastructure stack, including HPE and Dell hardware, VMware and Openshift Virtualisation and container platforms. This role includes both hands on work in our Auckland datacentres, and a big range of ‘remote’ work including managing hypervisors.

You will work with our internal engineers to build our future vision while ensuring we are there to manage incidents and problems.

What is the team culture and environment like?

This team takes pride in managing our environment, they take their responsibilities seriously, while not taking themselves too seriously. This role is Auckland based, across our Datacentres and head office, and the team is spread in Auckland and Wellington.
