About the Role: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Factory Operations Manager to lead a well-established manufacturing operation in Tauranga. You'll be at the helm of a busy, high-performing team, driving performance, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction. As a key part of the leadership team, your role is pivotal to ensuring the factory operates smoothly, exceeds performance targets, and contributes to the growth of the business.
Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Management:
Lead and manage daily operations of the factory, ensuring the team is aligned with company goals.
Ensure the factory operates efficiently, with a focus on quality, on-time delivery, and safety.
Develop and maintain a strong culture of continuous improvement using Lean methodologies.
Build and lead a high-performance team, ensuring staff are engaged and trained for success.
Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with key staff to drive performance and address any concerns.
Oversee the factory's financial performance, ensuring budget and cost control are adhered to.
Customer Relationship Management:
Maintain strong relationships with key customers, ensuring high satisfaction and quality service.
Support the sales team with customer issues or difficult situations as required.
People & Culture:
Focus on getting the right people in the right roles, ensuring staff are trained and supported.
Lead by example in fostering a positive and inclusive company culture that promotes teamwork, motivation, and respect.
Apply HR processes and address performance issues as necessary, in line with company policies.
Health & Safety:
Act as the Branch H&S Officer, ensuring the team adheres to all health and safety guidelines.
Ensure regular safety audits and training are conducted and address any safety concerns promptly.
Financial Oversight:
Take responsibility for the financial performance of the factory, ensuring profitability and effective budget management.
Monitor production costs and ensure spending is within approved budgets.
Key Requirements:
Proven experience in a factory or manufacturing management role, ideally in operations.
Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
Hands-on experience with Lean principles and continuous improvement techniques.
Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer service and team collaboration.
Strong financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets and drive profitability.
A commitment to health and safety practices and continuous improvement.
Ability to thrive under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
KPIs:
DIFOTIS (Delivery in Full, On Time, In Spec) at 90% (with a stretch target of 96%)
Productivity target of 64%
Net profit target of 6%
