Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate and committed ECE-qualified and registered teacher to join our wonderful team at Alten Road ECE Centre, nestled in the heart of the University of Auckland’s City Campus.

Our centre maintains exceptional teacher-child ratios and is currently licensed for 39 children aged 3 months to 6 years. We are dedicated to delivering high-quality, innovative care and education for the next generation.

This role is ideal for a kaiako who thrives in a mixed-age setting, enjoys collaborating within a strong team culture, and is deeply committed to nurturing positive learning experiences for tamariki.

Exciting News – We’re Moving!
We are thrilled to announce that we are in the process of relocating to a brand-new centre, just 600m from our current location. The new centre will feature an expanded licence for 55 children, including a dedicated preschool room, offering even more opportunities for growth and development. While we await final licensing approval, we are eager to welcome new team members who are excited to be part of this next chapter in our journey.

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), permanent position.
Remuneration is from $59,366 to $99,725 per annum, based on pay parity assessment level.

He kōrero mōu | About you

We’re seeking an enthusiastic kaiako who:

  • Is a New Zealand qualified and registered teacher with natural nurturing qualities and a passion for children’s learning and development.
  • Has experience working across all age groups, with a particular interest in working with our younger tamariki.
  • Is self-motivated, enthusiastic, and able to apply current ECE theory to practice, with a strong working knowledge of Te Whāriki.
  • Communicates effectively, confidently, and respectfully, building and maintaining strong relationships with whānau, colleagues, and tamariki.
  • Thrives in a collaborative team environment that values whakawhanaungatanga (strong relationships and connections).
  • Has a growth mindset—open to reflection, professional learning, and adapting practice to enhance learning outcomes for children.
