About the role

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Concrete Engineer to join the Auckland Concrete team based at Penrose. This is a fantastic opportunity for a professional with a strong background in concrete technology, materials, and engineering to contribute to our residential, commercial and infrastructure projects.

You will play a key role in designing, analysing, and ensuring the quality and durability of concrete structures, including roads, bridges, houses, commercial buildings, and other civil infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will possess practical knowledge of concrete mix design, construction techniques, and sustainability practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design concrete mixtures and assess the suitability of materials based on project requirements.
  • Conduct structural analysis and design of concrete elements.
  • Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and construction teams to ensure the correct application of concrete in projects.
  • Review and ensure compliance with New Zealand standards and local building codes for concrete work.
  • Perform site inspections to monitor the quality and workmanship of concrete installations.
  • Oversee testing and quality control procedures for concrete materials and finished structures.
  • Provide technical support and advice during construction stages.
  • Contribute to the research and development of new concrete products or techniques.
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation related to concrete design and performance.


Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent qualification).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in concrete engineering or related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of concrete materials, design, and construction techniques.
  • Familiarity with concrete testing and quality control methods.
  • Strong understanding of New Zealand building codes and standards.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Desirable:
  • Postgraduate qualification in Concrete Engineering or related field.
  • Experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of sustainable practices in concrete design and construction.
