As Asset Management Maturity & Improvement Manager, you will play a key role in enhancing KiwiRail’s asset management capability. Your mission is to ensure that our asset management systems, processes, and decision-making frameworks align with best practice, driving improvements across all business groups.
You will lead maturity assessments, improvement roadmaps, and benchmarking initiatives, ensuring KiwiRail maximises value from its assets while delivering safe, reliable, and cost-effective services.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading asset management maturity assessments and improvement programmes across KiwiRail
- Developing an enterprise-wide asset management competency framework
- Driving asset performance benchmarking and best practice adoption
- Collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure alignment and integration of asset management initiatives
- Championing a culture of continuous improvement and data-driven decision-making

We’re looking for a collaborative leader with a strong background in asset management, process improvement, and stakeholder engagement.
Essential skills and experience:
- 10+ years’ experience in asset management, transformation programmes, or process improvement
- Proven stakeholder management and leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of asset management methodologies, systems, and technologies
- Experience in change management and capability development
- Ability to analyse and present complex data in a clear, actionable way
- Excellent communication and influencing skills across all levels
Desirable qualifications:
- Degree in Business, Engineering, Technology, or a related field
- Programme or Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, MSP)
- Experience in asset-intensive industries such as transport, water, or energy
