He whakamārama mo te tūranga mahi | About the role:
KiwiRail is in a phase of significant transformation to modernise and grow our rail and Interislander ferry services in Aotearoa.

The Integration team helps to ensure that KiwiRail’s technology systems are seamlessly integrated to support information flows between systems in a structured and controlled manner. The team is responsible for 24/7 support incident management for integration services when and where required.

In this role, you will provide ongoing support and development of integration services, and will build, create, monitor and develop services. You will develop integration frameworks and work within existing frameworks to ensure consistency of services to both external and internal customers.

Reporting to the Integration Manager, your key accountabilities include:

  • Providing leadership to the team
  • Developing and implementing solutions
  • Interacting and resolving with customers business integration issues
  • Maintaining lifecycle of APIs and integration services
  • Keeping across new technology developments and trends
  • Troubleshooting issues, proactively reporting on and remediating issues
  • Contributing to and supporting a culture of continuous improvement


Ngā pukenga e rapu nei mātou | What (skills) you will bring:
Your experience will demonstrate a solid understanding of integration concepts in enterprise environments and you will have at least 5 to 10 years working within large scale organisations to deliver integration capabilities. It will be expected you will have experience in:

  • Designing APIs
  • API technologies (REST/SOAP/gRPC)
  • SOA/microservices based architectures


Technologies such as:
- Azure Integration Services (API Manager / Logic App / Function App)
- Azure Monitor and Alerts
- .NET / JavaScript

  • A sound understanding of SDLC processes
  • Agile environments
  • Exposure to other integration platforms such as FME, IBM Data Power
  • Exposure to Identity management and OAuth B2B and B2C


This skillset and experience complemented by your independent thinking and self-direction will ensure your success in this role.
