Position Overview
The Massey University Foundation is a registered charitable trust responsible for fundraising and administering gifts to the university. The mandate of the foundation is to provide philanthropic funding for projects of strategic importance to the university, including research, academic chairs, scholarships, and infrastructure projects. This funding helps Massey University achieve its goals and makes the university academically stronger.
Aligned to Massey University’s centennial celebration, Massey University Foundation is embarking on a three-year fundraising campaign. The goal of the campaign is to build the foundation’s assets to $100 million and create a lasting legacy for the university as it marks 100 years of excellence in education. This ambitious initiative underscores the transformational power of philanthropy and highlights the foundation’s commitment to supporting the university’s future.
We invite applicants with experience in managing executives and boards, preferably in a non-profit setting. A knowledge of corporate and board governance practice and regulations is essential.
About the Role
As the successful applicant, your core focus will be assisting the Director of Development to manage charitable trusts and fundraising boards in New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America. This includes:
- Ensuring each trust is compliant and maintains its charitable status in its respective territory
- Ensuring board members are compliant with AML and banking requirements
- Managing meeting logistics
- Keeping policies, procedures and service level agreements updated
- Audit meeting proceedings for compliance and manage tax filings for each board
What We Are Looking For
To be successful in this role, you will have the following:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration or management (or equivalent qualification or work experience)
- Completion of IOD courses including Governance Essentials
- Proven experience as a board secretary
- Previous experience of managing executives and working with senior administrators is essential
- Proven communication and administration skills
- Excellent interpersonal communications skills
