Pōneke is on the cusp of transformational change, responding to many of the challenges cities around the world are facing while delivering an inclusive, sustainable, and creative capital for people to live, work, and play.

We are set to deliver the most ambitious capital works programme our city has ever seen. The Infrastructure & Delivery group is central to much of this mahi - including delivering the renewal programme for council-owned properties.

And to help us on this journey, we are looking for a Project Manager - Asset & Projects who will drive the delivery of the capital renewals programme for a diverse portfolio of Council-owned buildings.

While providing robust project management guidance, advice, governance, and controls while managing stakeholder relationships and providing prompt reporting. You'll work with a collaborative team, stakeholders, and key decision-makers to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

Āu ake mahi | What you'll do
Leading the Charge on Amazing Projects:

  • Take full ownership of a portfolio of exciting property and capital projects - from initial planning right through to successful delivery.
  • Collaborate with talented teams to drive project execution, ensuring every aspect meets or exceeds expectations.


Innovative Procurement & Contract Management:

  • Lead the procurement and contracting processes to bring the best talent on board.
  • Oversee the day-to-day management of consultants and contractors, ensuring smooth and efficient project delivery.


Driving Excellence:

  • Set and maintain high-quality standards for every project, ensuring we deliver results that make a lasting impact on the community.
  • Be the go-to expert for ensuring that every element of a project is executed to perfection.


Financial & Risk Mastery:

  • Manage project budgets with precision, ensuring financial objectives are met while maximizing value.
  • Anticipate and proactively manage risks, keeping projects on track and ahead of schedule.


Engaging Stakeholders with Enthusiasm:

  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, from internal teams to external partners, and keep them informed and excited about project progress.
  • Ensure projects align with community interests, including collaborating with mana whenua and ensuring cultural sensitivity in project execution.


What We're Looking For

  • A Track Record of Success: You've successfully led large, complex projects, ideally in the property and capital development space.
  • Project Management Expertise: You have in-depth knowledge of project management principles and frameworks.
  • Strategic Thinker with Executional Excellence: You can balance strategic oversight with hands-on delivery, ensuring both big-picture and detail-level goals are met.
  • A Communication Pro: You're a master at engaging stakeholders and building relationships at all levels.
  • A Problem Solver with Passion: You approach challenges with creativity and determination to find solutions that keep projects moving forward.
