  • We're offering a competitive salary starting from $77,886 to $86,082, depending on experience


Mō te tūnga | About the role

The role supports the Manager Governance to provide advice to the Chief Executive and the Oranga Tamariki Leadership Team on governance and to manage and support governance processes to enable the effective and efficient operation of Oranga Tamariki.

This role is pivotal in ensuring effective coordination and governance within our organisation. Some key responsibilities are:

  • Coordination: Lead and enhance coordination efforts across various teams to ensure seamless operations and communication.
  • Grievance Panel: Take on a crucial role in managing and supporting the grievance panel, ensuring fair and timely resolution of issues.
  • Governance: Provide expert advice and support on governance matters, contributing to the overall strategic direction of Oranga Tamariki.


This role is based in our Wellington office. Due to the operational requirements and dynamic nature of the role, it will be beneficial for you to have the close support of the team around you. Candidates for this role are required to already be based in Wellington or be willing to relocate to Wellington for this opportunity.

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring

Key requirements of the role include:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience is essential. The qualification may come from a number of different fields of study, including social work or other human sciences
  • Demonstrated work experience in a coordination role
  • Planning and organisational skills
  • Information gathering skills and experience
  • Experience providing secretariat services and advice to committees, boards, project teams and other similar groups
  • Experience collating information and turning it into advice
  • Working across an organisation and influencing without formal authority
  • Managing multiple pieces of work with varied and competing timeframes
  • Knowledge of government processes relating to governance and appointments
  • Analytical skills with the ability to make sounds and respected decisions
  • Ability to write to a high standard, appropriate to the audience, including proof reading with a high level of accuracy
  • Highly organised, with the ability manage multiple items while maintaining high level of attention to detail
  • Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture
