The employer
This is a superior facility located in Gisborne with modern collision repair straightening equipment, quality paint systems mixing technology, heating/ spray booths and a professional work environment among the region's best.

The company is open to local applications, others from within New Zealand willing to relocate, and may also consider a skilled migrant looking for a residency pathway at 1.5 times the median wage, subject to skills and experience.


The skills required

  • Ability to work to a high standard
  • Relevant NZ National Certificate in Collision Repair or Automotive Refinishing or offshore equivalent
  • Prior collision repairs and automotive refinishing experience
  • While experience across both skills is preferred, either or is of consideration
  • Prior supervisory skills are essential
  • Willingness to relocate - while it would be ideal for applicants to live in New Zealand already, the employer is accredited with Immigration NZ and would also consider candidates requiring a Work Visa or Visa Variation



The role
Supervising a medium sized and growing team, this role involves both hands on productive work either in the capacity of an automotive refinisher or collision repairer, or ideally a person competent across both trades.

You would work closely alongside the company owner and be a fair minded and capable supervisor. Your trade skills are required to be of a high standard, so too your communication skills and ability to deal directly with customers and suppliers where needed and to step up where required.



Remuneration and benefits
$48.50 per hour with potential additional bonuses and other benefits to be discussed. The employer is seeking a quality hire and a person who can be relied upon to help run the facility in his absence.

While the company is ideally seeking a New Zealand based applicant, they have also kept the option open to employ a skilled migrant, either in New Zealand or offshore. Skilled migrants on an AEWV or requiring a Variation of Conditions are advised, Automotive Employment NZ employs our own in-house licensed immigration adviser.

At current time we are advised that at the current median wage, which is subject to change, may provide a potential pathway to residency for those which consider this essential.

Preference will be given to New Zealand based applications but both the trade skills and supervisory experience outlined are essential.
