Job Description

About this role
We have an exciting opportunity in Te Ihuwaka | The Education Evaluation Centre (the research centre within the Education Review Office) for a Strategic Advisor, Sector Engagement. This position advises our team, and creates and delivers content, to connect our insights to a school sector audience.

A bit about you: You are an experienced and credible school teacher or leader, who is looking for a change. You still feel passionate about education and making a difference for students. You believe in evidence-based teaching practice, but you are sometimes frustrated by how evidence is presented – it's not as clear and accessible as it could be, and there is a lot of irrelevant material to wade through. You are a naturally skilled writer and communicator. You are confident when speaking in front of large groups, and get compliments for being convincing and interesting when presenting to other teachers and leaders. You have good ways of staying focused and prioritising what's important, even when there's a lot going on. You have an optimistic disposition and build relationships easily.

A bit about us: Te Ihuwaka, ERO's education evaluation centre, works on national research and evaluation projects. Our recent work is here: ERO Te Ihuwaka website. We are looking for an ex-teacher/school leader to be our new Strategic Advisor, Sector Engagement. This is a new role which will support our team to connect our research to teachers and leaders, and to produce content for the school sector that is relevant and useful for them. Our team is diverse, energetic, and supportive, and our work is challenging and interesting. The role is based in our central Wellington office. Hours of work are negotiable.
