Mō te Tūranga | About the role
We have an opening for a Data Steward to join our Data Management Office. The DMO strategically partners across the ASB Data Community to set up the guardrails, game-plans, and best practice guidelines for how we consume and manage our most critical data. This is more than just a governance role; it's one where you become central to the effective management of data in the organization, blending business and technical knowledge with key policy, standards, and governance to achieve the best possible outcomes with our data. You will use world-class tools to understand data lineage and put in place rules and processes to safeguard. You will enjoy coordinating across business teams at ASB, sharing knowledge and skills, and ensuring that the data in your domain is well represented. Being a leading advocate for data use, you will ensure that data governance and data risk management is maintained to the highest standards.
Ngā Haepapa | Responsibilities
- Effective Data Governance and Data Risk Management activities, enabling the ongoing review of data quality, controls, and issue resolution for your domain.
- Ensuring stakeholders have clarity around the current state of various remediation initiatives.
- Ongoing education of the ASB community in matters relating to data governance.
- Supporting the effective function and operation of the Data Management Office.
- Supporting and participating in the management of relationships with key business stakeholders to understand and document their data governance needs.
Mōu | About you
You'll ideally be a self-starter with problem-solving skills to boot - where your positivity and excellent communication skills will enable you to share knowledge and learn from others while contributing to key outcomes. In terms of background, we are ideally looking for someone with a strong background in data. Ideally, your experience comes from within data governance, analytics/insights, business intelligence, or information management in banking or financial services. You'll have strong influencing and collaboration skills based on knowledge, frameworks, ability to sell benefits, and communicate possibilities. Your ability to build and maintain effective working relationships and present to a senior management level will ensure your ongoing success. Experience with data governance and related tooling would be an advantage, but not necessary.
