We are looking to expand our exceptional Digital Testing Chapter and are looking for a talented Senior Software Engineer - Testing to help lead the delivery of unbeatable digital experiences that our customers love.

Mo te tūranga | About the role:

As a Senior Software Engineer - Testing, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality of our software by performing requirements analysis, test case design, functional and non-functional testing, and defect management activities. Your work will directly contribute to the development, implementation, and support of advanced web, mobile, and API test automation and performance frameworks.

You will get to work in an agile squad with a range of people and teams across the Digital Practice and Technology, developing test automation and functionally testing our experiences.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and execute functional, automation, and non-functional testing strategies for web, mobile, and API platforms.
  • Contribute to building, implementing, and supporting complex test automation and performance frameworks.
  • Support the integration into our automated build pipeline and maintain a fully auditable test trail in line with our Digital strategies.
  • Perform risk analysis to identify key areas of focus and ensure that testing efforts drive efficient delivery.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code, ensuring adherence to development and coding standards.
  • Create, run, and maintain build/release pipelines, along with testing automation processes.
  • Collaborate with the squad to maintain a high quality of testing, including monitoring and reporting on automation quality.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of technical documentation, component libraries, and knowledge-sharing resources.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to enhance team knowledge and foster a continuous learning culture.


Ngā mea kia whai angitū ahau? | What do I need to be successful?

  • Practical and current experience with a range of open source and commercial test automation technologies (e.g. Specflow, C# Selenium, Appium, Java, C# (IDE -> Visual Studio) across front-end, back-end technology stacks.
  • Competent in functional manual testing and non-functional testing.
  • A practical understanding of Agile methodologies & willingness to follow and improve the processes.
  • Exposure to CI/CD process and toolsets such as Octopus & Azure DevOps.
  • Ability to implement automated tests over multiple layers of a web-based system.
  • Experience in conducting API Automation testing.
  • Experience in Mobile Testing.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, including the ability to influence positive change in the way we work.
  • A real self-driven attitude with an ability to learn effectively and efficiently.
  • Experience with test management tools like ADO and TFS.
  • Understanding Cloud concepts and products. 
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies when needed.
  • Championing Software Quality Assurance.


As a bonus, experience in the following areas is nice to have:

  • Experience in performance testing using tools such as LoadRunner, Jmeter.
  • Ideally, you will have practical work experience in a web/mobile-based development environment, a passion for digital, and an ability to lead, collaborate, and change!
