He angitūtanga: The opportunity
As a Senior Data Platform Engineer, you will lead the design, development, and optimization of scalable data pipelines and storage solutions to support advanced analytics and business needs. You’ll manage cloud-based platforms like Snowflake and Azure, ensuring performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency while continuously improving system reliability and efficiency. A key part of the role is embedding strong data security practices, monitoring system performance, and ensuring compliance with data governance standards.
Working closely with Data Engineers, Analysts, and Technology Services teams, you’ll deliver strategic data solutions and ensure seamless integration with existing systems. As a senior member of the team, you’ll mentor others, build internal capability, and foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Your expertise will play a crucial role in strengthening our in-house data platform capability and supporting the delivery of scalable, reliable data infrastructure.

We seek a senior-level candidate with 5+ years’ experience in cloud-based data solutions, with a strong background in leading technical initiatives and guiding best practices. This is important because you will lead the implementation of cloud-native data warehousing, manage infrastructure through automation tools, and drive efficient data integration and transformation processes to support robust data platforms.
The tools we use and what we are looking for:
- 3 plus years’ experience in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud (GCP)
- Strong expertise in cloud-native data warehousing tools (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery)
- Extensive experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible
- Proficiency in data integration and transformation tools such as Fivetran, dbt, Apache Spark, Talend, or Apache Airflow
