The Administration Services team is a multi-skilled team providing a broad range of business support functions to the Canterbury region of Oranga Tamariki - Ministry for Children.
We are constantly looking to improve or help improve service across our region and are looking for another team member with the same values so that we can further develop our success.
Mō te tūnga | About the role
This is a business service role with variety with opportunities for further development. We're looking for an experienced Administrator to join our Administration Services team. To succeed in this role, you will have the ability to learn quickly and be flexible and resilient, and most importantly, be a team player.
Some of your daily tasks will include:
- Provide business support to the Admin Services Manager
- Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Office Skills
- Rostering of Casual Staff who drive and mind tamariki and rangatahi in our care
- Assist with payroll, finance, fleet, Health and Safety and Family Homes procurement
- Administer as a Team, our three Inboxes
- Deliver smart administration functions to support frontline services in a fast-paced environment
- Support Site Managers with system processes
- Information management and reporting
Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring
Customer service is essential to this role, so you'll bring a positive customer attitude, approachable style, and strong written and verbal communication skills. You will have solid organisational skills, the ability to multi-task and be creative to achieve tight deadlines, while maintaining a high level of accuracy. This team is small and operates at a fast pace, so the ability to be agile is a must.
Key requirements of the role include:
- Competent business support know-how and good attention to detail
- Confidence in advising staff on business processes and resolving queries
- A professional and articulate telephone manner
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft 365
- A 'can do' attitude and a good sense of humour
- A clean, current, full New Zealand driver's licence is needed
- Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture

Oranga Tamariki offer an impartial remuneration package, that offers progression annually for experience through tenure. Annual remuneration for this position starts between $57,096 to $62,773.00 dependent on experience.
