He angitūtanga: The opportunity
The Tūpuna Maunga Authority is a statutory authority established under the Ngā Mana Whenua o Tāmaki Makaurau Collective Redress Act to co-govern fourteen Tūpuna Maunga (ancestral mountains) across Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland. The Authority is made up of equal representation from Mana Whenua iwi/hapū of Tāmaki Makaurau and Auckland Council, along with non-voting Crown representation. As a Field Officer, you will play a vital role in the Tūpuna Maunga Operational Team, ensuring services and assets across the Maunga are well-maintained and engaging with manuhiri (visitors), contractors, and key stakeholders.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Conducting audits of contracts and assets to ensure high standards are met.
• Supporting restoration projects, capital works, emergency response, and events.
• Acting as the “eyes and ears” of the Maunga, monitoring, reporting, and responding to maintenance issues.
• Helping to protect, restore, and enhance the Maunga, supporting the aspirations of Mana Whenua.

• Is motivated, well-organized, and results-driven.
• Has a deep appreciation for kaupapa Māori and is confident working in a Te Ao Māori setting.
• Wants to lead and influence positive change with and for Māori.
