Head Chef

We’re on the hunt for a passionate head chef to lead our small kitchen team in our vibrant venue located in the heart of Nelson.

About the Role: As our head chef you’ll be responsible for running day-to-day kitchen operations, working alongside a team of dedicated kitchen professionals. You’ll be responsible for planning menus, estimating food and labour costs, daily ordering of kitchen supplies, ensuring all food sent from the kitchen is of the highest quality and preparing & cooking all menu items.

Key Responsibilities:

·        Serving food of the highest quality alongside a small kitchen team

·        Oversee all cleaning duties in the kitchen and keep all appropriate records

·        Ensuring all records are kept up to date in line with the implemented food control plan

·        Take ownership of the menu & come up with weekly specials

·        Ensuring all ordering is done daily to keep the full menu available at all times & in line with costings

·        Keeping the kitchen rosta up to date and in line with labour costs

Qualifications & Requirements:

·        Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role or

·        NZ registered diploma

·        Experience in implementing NZ food control plan

·        Ability to lead a team and work independently

What We Offer:

·        A permanent role with a minimum of 30 hours per week, increasing to 40-45 hours during the busy summer season

·        Competitive pay of $32-$36 per hour, based on experience

·        Flexible work week with shifts Monday – Saturday (closed on Sundays) from 12pm – 10pm
