Position Overview
Are you passionate about student wellbeing, community building, and supporting young adults through a transformative time in their lives? Massey University is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Residential Life Coordinator to join our Accommodation Services team.

About the Role
This is not just a job—it’s a community-centered vocation. As a Residential Life Coordinator, you’ll live on-site and be at the heart of shaping a positive, inclusive, and vibrant residential experience for our students. You’ll lead the planning and delivery of events, support resident wellbeing, respond to critical incidents, and help ensure the Halls are a place where students thrive personally, socially, and academically.

The salary band for this position is $52,600 - $64,000 based on skills and experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead an engaging, fun, and supportive Residential Life Programme
  • Foster an inclusive, respectful community aligned with Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles
  • Mentor and support Resident Representatives and Assistants
  • Coordinate student welfare, engagement, and incident response
  • Promote wellbeing, life skills, and academic success
  • Manage health and safety initiatives and emergency protocols
  • Maintain effective communication via events, social media, and resident outreach


What You’ll Bring
Essential:

  • Minimum one year of experience in administration, customer service, or event planning
  • A passion for working with young adults and creating community
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • A current NZ driver’s licence
  • Willingness to live on campus and participate in after-hours on-call roster


Desirable:

  • Qualifications or experience in events, youth work, education or residential accommodation
  • Experience in managing social media and promoting events
  • Understanding of pastoral care and wellbeing in a tertiary environment
