Our Downer Greenspaces team have a reputation built through great people, access to first class plant and equipment and leading-edge technology that allow us to deliver for our clients to the highest standards across New Zealand.
We are looking for an enthusiastic team player to join the Taranaki greenspaces team - this is a great full time permanent opportunity.
A bit about the role:
The Greenspace Spray Operator is responsible for weed control primarily by agrichemical spraying applications across the region’s roadside verges, parks and reserves.
Duties may vary depending on contracts won or lost or business requirements and You may be required to work overtime hours or away from home if requested, reasonable notice will be given. This may be based on seasonal requirements.
As a Greenspace Spray Operator, you will:
- Plan / manage / undertake daily maintenance of roadside vegetation and vegetation in parks and reserves across the region.
- Operate specialised vehicles and ATVS for the use of herbicide spray applications.
- Operate commercial tractors and upfront mowers for mowing operations across the region.
- Support the mowing and spraying programmes with approved traffic management as required.
- Support the maintenance crew with the use of hand power tools as required.
- Need to ensure that high quality, timely and planned service is delivered within the required timeframes.
- Ensure a high level of safety is adhered to protect the public, other team members, and yourself.
Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills
We are looking for a self-motivated team member with a can-do attitude who has:
- Full Class 1 Drivers license required, Class 2 and above is advantageous
- An approved Growsafe certificate preferred, however full training can be provided for the right candidate
- Experience in Upfront / Ride-on Mowing or Park Maintenance would be highly regarded, however full training can be provided for the right candidate
- Previous experience in operating tractor implement mowing or small plant and machinery is highly desirable
- STMS /Traffic management qualifications preferred; however full training can be provided for the right candidate.
- Familiar with electronic data entry or computer experience an advantage
- Self-motivated and ability to work in a team
- Great communication skills and ability of dealing with customers
