Are you naturally inquisitive with a strong investigative mindset? Do you thrive in a role where no two days are the same? If so, we want to hear from you.
In this field-based role, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with the Resource Management Act, Building Act, and relevant Bylaws. You’ll conduct investigations, gather evidence, assess non-compliance, and take enforcement action where required. You will be the frontline in protecting Auckland’s environment and community, working alongside a range of agencies to ensure regulations are upheld.
This is a permanent, full-time role (40 hours per week, Monday to Friday) based in West Auckland with an office in Albany. Some after-hours work may be required.

Individuals with experience in compliance, law enforcement, or regulatory fields, particularly in investigations and responding to non-compliance, have a strong success profile for this role. A background in government enforcement roles will provide a solid foundation, but if you don’t have this experience, we still want to hear from you. Share your relevant skills and strengths to help us understand the transferable expertise you can bring.
You will bring:
- Strong investigatory skills – an ability to gather and assess evidence, build cases, and report findings.
- An analytical and compliance-focused mindset, with the ability to assess situations objectively.
- Exceptional communication skills – capable of explaining complex regulations clearly and confidently to a range of audiences.
- Experience in enforcement, mediation, and negotiation, with a professional approach to conflict resolution.
- A solid understanding of regulatory frameworks and reporting structures.
This is a challenging but rewarding role where you will make a tangible impact on the Auckland community. If you have a passion for upholding the law and ensuring compliance, we encourage you to apply.
Please note:
- A full and clean NZ Drivers' License is required for this role.
- Qualification Checks will be conducted along with other relevant pre-employment checks required for employment with Auckland Council.
