We are a high energy campervan rental company with depots in Auckland and Christchurch.
The role
We are actively recruiting an experienced (one) Carpenter to be part of our team, in the Auckland region. This role will support our campervan build team to design and fit out campervans and also ensure that our campers and various sites are always maintained to the highest standards. There will be future leadership and project management opportunities with this role.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Study specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required.
• Shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws.
• Install structures or fixtures, such as windows, frames, floorings, trim, or hardware, using carpenters' hand or power tools.
• Build or repair cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, or other wooden fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, carpenter's hand tools, or power tools.
• Select and order timber or other required materials.
• Assemble and fasten materials to make frameworks or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue.
• Remove damaged or defective parts or sections of structures and repair or replace, using hand tools.
• Measure and mark cutting lines on materials, using a ruler, pencil, chalk, and marking gauge.
• Construct forms or chutes for pouring concrete.
• Cover subfloors with building paper to keep out moisture and lay hardwood, parquet, or wood-strip-block floors by nailing floors to subfloor or cementing them to mastic or asphalt base.
• Maintain records, document actions, and present written progress reports.
• Finish surfaces of woodwork or wallboard in houses or buildings, using paint, hand tools, or panelling.
Attributes & Skills required
• 2 - 3 years’ Carpentry experience and / or relevant qualification
• Class 1, 2, 4 or 5 licenses preferred but not essential
• Basic maths skills as a minimum requirement.
• Ability to read technical documents and drawings.
• Pass a pre-employment medical which includes drug and alcohol testing
• Able to work Monday – Saturday, when required
