We're looking for passionate individuals to join our Tour Operations team as a Tour Guide,- English and/or Mandarin speaking to help our visitors live out their Tolkien dreams and wander the pathways of the enchanting village of Hobbiton. If you are someone who can keep the energy high, the experience fun, and the professionalism strong as well as adaptable, quick to problem-solve, and thrive in a team environment, this could be the perfect role for you.

In your role as a Tour Guide, you will be exposed to a range of front-line tasks such as:

  • Delivering an informative and light-hearted commentary throughout the duration of the tour, following the designated tour route and maintaining proper timings throughout the experience.
  • Assisting with visitor needs such as taking photos, answering visitor questions, and keeping your group entertained and managing group dynamics.
  • Demonstrate both verbal and non-verbal communication which is key to providing a world class experience.


WHAT YOU'LL BRING WITH YOU

Hobbiton Movie Set, NZ’s biggest tourist destination is SEEKING a Tour Guide with a minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role, or transferable skills. A recognised qualification in Tour Guiding is not essential, but ATTITUDE should stand out.

  • Basic knowledge of the Tolkien Universe (Lord of The Rings/The Hobbit) is preferred, but not essential
  • Must be comfortable with public speaking


Positions available are a minimum of 30 hours per week in the non-peak season and minimum of 35 hours in the peak season to accommodate the 4 day pay weeks. The roster is 4 days on and 2 days off and will require days and evening shifts, weekends, and public holidays.

Since we are located slightly off the beaten track your own reliable transport is essential and you are legally able to get to and from work.

Daily catered lunches and first-class training is also provided.
