About the role
Hutt City Council is looking for an expert in collection care to join the Arts and Culture team for a fixed-term full-time role (40 hours per week for 11 months) as part of the Petone Settlers Museum collection project.

Our Te Awakairangi Hutt City museums are treasured community resources with significant national reputations. We take pride in caring for our unique collections and have the exciting opportunity to vastly improve storage conditions for the Petone Settlers Museum collection.

This role involves working as part of the project team to complete the relocation and rehousing of the collection. You will be responsible for leading aspects of the movement and improving storage methods and documentation, always ensuring the highest standard of care throughout the project. A key part of the project will be in assessing and rationalising the collection contributing to decisions and ensuring clear documentation is kept.

About you
Your passion for collection care, object handling, storage and documentation will be essential in meeting milestones and helping to ensure the project is delivered safely and on time. Relevant experience will ensure you are able to join the project team and hit the ground running.

Being highly organised and responsive, your problem-solving and communication skills will be in demand as well as your ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
