We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Planning Advisor to join our District Planning team.
This role sits within our District Planning Team 1 led by Andrew Wharton. They are primarily responsible for urban planning projects beyond the district plan such as spatial planning, housing and business capacity and infrastructure-land use alignment. This Team works together with District Planning Team 2 which is responsible for the Wellington City District Plan and input to other RMA plans. The Senior Planning Advisor is likely to work on city planning projects within both teams over time.
In this role you will provide planning assessment, advice and delivery on Wellington City Council responsibilities and directions for urban form and development, and related Council policy and planning functions. You will be expected to provide planning policy advice to internal and external stakeholders, including hearings commissioners, elected representatives, local government authorities and central government agencies.
What you will bring to the role:
- A tertiary qualification in planning, resource management, economics, or a related field.
- More than 3 years relevant experience working with processes in the Resource Management Act 1991 (preferably district plans) and/or the Local Government Act 2002.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and other internal stakeholders.
- Strong strategic thinking skills, with the ability to evaluate complex situations and develop forward-thinking solutions.
- Expertise in data analysis, with the ability to present findings clearly and concisely to diverse audiences in easy-to-understand terms.
- In-depth knowledge of Wellington city, its history and cultural context.
- Confidence in using te reo Māori and a rich understanding of tikanga.
- We are looking to appoint between $98,888 - $116,338 per annum, for this role, depending on relevant skills and experience.
