Our long-time and much-loved skipper is setting sail into retirement, and we’re on the lookout for a new Skipper to join our award-winning Akaroa Dolphins team.

The Role:

As our skipper, you’ll be at the helm of our 50ft catamaran passenger vessel, safely navigating the harbour while engaging with guests, sharing your knowledge, and helping create unforgettable wildlife encounters. You'll work closely with our passionate crew to ensure every cruise is safe, smooth, and filled with magic.

What We’re Looking For:

• Skipper’s Restricted Limits (SRL) qualification with 24m and Passenger Endorsements (or an equivalent ring-fenced skipper’s qualification)
• A valid First Aid Certificate
• Confident boat handling skills in varying weather and sea conditions
• Excellent communication and people skills ~ you’ll be a key part of the guest experience
• A love for marine life and the environment
• Ability to work weekends, public holidays, and over the busy summer season
• A calm, professional attitude with a strong focus on safety

Desirable but not essential:

• Local knowledge of Akaroa Harbour
• Marine wildlife or eco-tourism experience
