Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a Member Services Coordinator to join our team at Hiwa, the University’s new state-of-the-art Sport and Recreation Centre.
This role is customer-focussed and all about engagement. You will lead initiatives to grow and retain our membership base, facilitate outstanding customer experiences, and build strong connections across the University and wider community.
You will play a pivotal role in promoting Hiwa, representing us at large-scale events such as Manawa Mai (University Open Day), and leading networking and engagement activities. With a strong sales and marketing focus, you will create membership promotions, develop strategic partnerships, and confidently present to large audiences to enhance the Hiwa and Sport and Recreation brand.
This is a fulltime (37.5 hours per week), permanent position.
The remuneration range for this role is $62,400 - $77,800, depending on skills and experience.

He kōrero mōu | About you
We are looking for a self-starter with a strategic mindset, strong sales skills, and the confidence to engage with a wide range of people. You’ll be proactive, highly organised, and comfortable presenting to large groups.
Our ideal candidate will have:
- A qualification in fitness, sport, marketing, or management, or equivalent experience
- Current First Aid Certification
- Experience in a recreation or fitness facility, including customer service, member engagement, and event promotion
- Strong organisational and multitasking skills, with the ability to meet deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a team-focused mindset
- Knowledge of recreation facility operations and experience managing a customer service portfolio (preferred)
