Ross Reid Contractors are a family based company and have been in the construction industry since 1954.
We are currently looking for an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our South Auckland team.
To be successful you will need at least 3 years' experience as a Diesel Mechanic. Experience with caterpillar earth moving plant would be an advantage.
Experience and skillset required:
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screen and comply with our drug and alcohol policy
- Experience in heavy Earthmoving equipments, such as Caterpillar, Komatsu, and Hitachi
- Ability to work in any weather condition and exposed to the elements
- Self motivated and keen to adapt to different situations
- Ability to work unsupervised with a positive work attitude
- Ability to make difficult decisions efficiently and is keen to help others and or learn
- Ability to identify potential hazards in and around the work area

Responsibilities include:
- Conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts, adjusting controls and systems.
- Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winter procedures.
- Corrects vehicle deficiencies
- Complies with COF / WOF regulations & vehicle requirements
- Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs
- Contains costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options
- Enhances maintenance department and organisation reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
