About the Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new Centre Cook to join our vibrant team at BestStart Kaikohe from 1st March 25! We are looking for someone who can prepare fresh, nutritious, and delicious meals for our children each day.

As our Centre Cook, you will plan, prepare, and cook an appetising and culturally diverse menu, providing morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea for 62 children daily, including 10 under the age of 2. You'll be responsible for creating alternative meals to cater to specific dietary needs, such as vegetarian and dairy-free options, ensuring every child is well-nourished and happy.

In addition to meal preparation, you’ll manage food safety documentation to maintain our MPI registration and perform kitchen-related tasks. Efficiency, excellent time management, and a strong knowledge of nutrition and healthy eating are essential for this role.

This is a permanent part time position working 30 hours per week Monday-Friday (8.30am-3pm) starting 1st March 25.

  • Knowledge around health and safety in the kitchen and set high standards of hygiene and housekeeping
  • A passion for cooking and baking
  • An understanding of allergies and dietary requirements
  • Be computer literate in order to design menus and place orders each week
  • The ability to remain within the budgets of ordering food
  • A passion for promoting healthy eating for young children
