Mō te tūnga | About the role
The Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) is a key part of the detection, prevention and investigation of a range of serious criminal offences, the financing of terrorism, and breaches of international law. We receive a significant amount of information from the private sector that provides leads and support to investigations.

The Operations Manager liaises and provides expertise across the anti-money laundering sector, particularly on the use of financial intelligence. They provide oversight of operational functions within the FIU, support the delivery of strategy, develop policies and enhance regulatory compliance for the Unit.

The Operations Manager will also provide guidance and leadership to a number of direct reports, including the supervisors of the information sharing, investigation support and data analytics teams.

  • Plan, direct, coordinate and control the operational and administrative functions of the Financial Intelligence Unit.
  • Drive and develop internal systems, policies and processes in line with regulatory frameworks and legislative requirements.
  • Prioritise requirements for the collection of Financial Intelligence data and align targets with business strategy to support operational policing.
  • Provide technical and professional authority and governance over all intelligence functions within the unit.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with government and non-government agencies.

Additional Information:

  • This position is located at Police National Headquarters, Wellington.
  • Applicants must be an NZ or Australian citizen. Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret Security Clearance.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo a full reference and security check prior to any offer of employment being made.

Utu ā-tau | Salary
This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $102,178 and $108,513 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
