We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager Intelligence Systems to lead our team in managing a diverse portfolio of intelligence systems. This role involves overseeing data engineering, system management, data analytics, and providing technical assistance across various intelligence platforms. Join us in shaping the future of intelligence systems within the New Zealand Police.
Key Accountabilities:
- Team Leadership: Lead a small team responsible for managing intelligence systems across complex areas.
- System Management: Manage intelligence systems and provide data analytics for intelligence purposes.
- ICT Relationship Management: Represent NIC needs to ICT groups and manage core applications and systems.
- Technical Assistance: Support the geospatial team with infrastructure and data acquisition.
- Interface Development: Develop complex interfaces and services using Python, R, SAS, and Typescript.
- ICT Advisory: Act as the key contact and advisor on all ICT systems and projects related to intelligence.
- Technology Program Management: Manage all technology programs for intelligence.

- Project Management: Proven project and program management skills.
- Experience: Significant experience in a structured project or program delivery environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Word, Visio, PowerPoint, and advanced MS Excel skills.

- Business Systems: Understanding of business systems in large organisations.
- Initiative: Self-starter with high initiative and self-management capabilities.
This is a complex role requiring someone who is comfortable with working with ICT while at the same time balancing the needs to the users. A sound ICT base is needed along with an understanding on intelligence and the ability to get things done!
Whakaritenga motuhake | Special requirements
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in data science, ICT or STEM subject
Prince 2 or equivalent qualification
You may occasionally be required to work outside of set work hours and alternative locations for operational reasons.
This role is an office-based role at Police National Head Quarters, Wellington.
This role is set at Team Leader/Manager level, this means your key purpose is “to lead the activities for Our Business and enable people to deliver them.”

Utu ā-tau | Salary
This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence at $137,954 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
