Volunteer to join our nationwide crew of Wonder Project Ambassadors and help kaiako (teachers) spark wonder in the next generation of STEM professionals.
Wonder Project Ambassadors are professionals working in the STEM sector who want to make a real difference. As an ambassador, you represent STEM and everything that’s wonder-ful about it. Your job is to impart your wisdom, passion, and excitement, inspiring ākonga (students) to pursue a career in STEM.
As an ambassador you'll be paired with a local class to help them work through one of our Wonder Project challenges over a school term. There's no need to be an expert in any of the challenge material as we'll give you all the training and guidance you need.
To be a Wonder Project Ambassador you need to:
- be passionate
- have a level 4+ qualification
- be working or studying in STEM
- be a confident communicator
- be comfortable working with kaiako
- be available for school visits
- have employer support
💡 Power Challenge 💡
Power up! Ākonga design and build a wind turbine and light up their own mini town. Along the way they’ll discover the amazing phenomenon of electricity and renewable energy and learn how teamwork can keep the lights on.
The challenge takes classes 1–2 hours per week across 6–8 weeks to complete, but you only need to be available for at least 3 hours during the challenge to visit the classroom.
The Power Challenge targets ākonga aged 11–13 years old and runs during Term 3 (14 July – 19 September 2025).
