Position Overview
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced, dedicated, and student-focused individual to join our Accommodation Services Team as the Residential Life Manager on our Palmerston North Campus. This role manages a team of staff and is responsible for leading a positive, inclusive, and safe living environment within our Halls of Residence. The goal is to ensure our residents feel supported, engaged, and empowered to thrive both academically and personally.
This position offers a competitive salary between $72,000 - $93,200, along with a range of benefits designed to support your professional and personal wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, develop, and implement a comprehensive Residential Life Programme that enhances the student experience, fosters a strong sense of belonging, and supports academic and personal success.
- Work collaboratively with the Residential Life team to maintain a secure, inclusive, and supportive living environment.
- Stay attuned to industry trends and best practices to keep the Residential Life Programme innovative and effective.
- Manage critical incidents and participate in on-call duties as part of the Hall’s emergency response protocols.
- Actively contribute to the broader objectives of the Student Wellbeing team and the Student Experience Directorate.
Key Requirements:
- The employment setting will involve work with people across the lifespan, and applicants will be required to comply with the requirements of the Vulnerable Children Act 2014 and the Vulnerable Children (Requirements for Safety Checks of Children’s Workers) Regulations 2015.
- A minimum of three years' experience in leading and managing a team.
- Proven experience in residential life, student services, pastoral care, or a related field.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage complex situations, including crisis and incident management.
- Commitment to fostering diversity, inclusion, and wellbeing within a residential setting.
- A sound understanding of the Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021 is desirable.
- Flexibility to live onsite or offsite, and to participate in an on-call roster. If living offsite, you are required to live within 20 minutes of campus to meet on-call requirements.
