Interpretation Advisor

We are looking for a motivated and innovative Interpretation Advisor to enhance visitor engagement and inspire conservation action. This pivotal role will lead the development and delivery of world-class interpretative experiences across the Zoo, ensuring a cohesive and uniquely Auckland Zoo voice in all initiatives.

As part of your role, you will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align interpretive projects with the Zoo’s strategic plan and Conservation Messaging along with leading precinct refreshes, renewals, and capital project interpretation, maintaining consistent branding and tone.

This is a permanent full-time position of 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday with some weekend or public holiday work required as needed.

He kōrero mōu: About you
You will have the ability to drive the creation, delivery, and installation of interpretative content, including signage, audio-visual displays, digital platforms, theming, and presentations.

This will include researching and developing high-quality, engaging content to educate and inspire visitors about conservation and sustainability.

To guide you further you will have:

  • A diploma in science communication, museum studies, journalism, teaching, or a related field.3+ years’ experience in interpretation, conservation education, or written communications.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a creative flair for engaging design and storytelling. Have experience in providing staff with coaching and guidance necessary to promote an informal mentoring environment in which they can develop and upskill.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
