About the role
Our dedicated kitchen team at our Papakura Oaks in Papakura are looking for a talented and experienced Chef to join them on a part time basis cooking for our Care Home residents and lead our weekend team, ensuring excellent service is delivered to our residents. You will be a proven, experienced and reliable Chef, with the ability to manage 'sole charge' to lead the weekend team.
This role is working 16 hours per weekend, across Saturday and Sunday - 8.30am to 5pm
Duties Include:
- Creating delicious food in a restaurant environment
- Coordinating the kitchen to ensure it operates effortlessly.
- Maintaining a high standard of food with consistent portion sizes and outstanding presentation.
- Nutritional standards or dietary requirements are always actively addressed in special menu design.
- Using your leadership skills to support our kitchen team.
- Take responsibility for the overall management of the kitchen in the absence of the kitchen manager.
About you
You will appreciate how important this position is in delivering an outstanding service to our residents, so you will have empathy for the older person; excellent written and spoken English with the ability to communicate in a clear, considerate fashion; and an industrious, diligent approach to ensuring that the job is done to the highest standards. Other things that will support your application include:
Skills & Experience Required:
- Proven experience in a similar role - previous Aged Care experience would be an advantage
- Commercial kitchen and or café experience preferred.
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Food industry qualification
- Excellent food hygiene practices and personal presentation.
