Job Description
Kia mahi ngātahi mō Pōneke mō tōna āpōpō | Working together for Wellington's future
We're Working for Wellington. Wellington City Council's team provides more than 400 services every day for Wellingtonians - everything from parks and pools to consents and cemeteries - playing our part in making Pōneke an inclusive, sustainable, and creative capital for people to live, work and play.
The Commercial Partnerships Team are a collaborative, high-energy team who love working together and are highly engaged with the mahi they do. Anyone watching them in action will tell you this. They have had quite an interactive journey as a function.
The team have worked hard to establish strong relationships with all business units across the organisation and improve the organisations procurement practice. They now need a leader to maintain that momentum and take them to the next stage, enhancing our contract management and putting a focus on value for money. This will involve building relationships with our key suppliers at a strategic level.
The Council spends over $500m on external suppliers every year, on works, goods and services that are critical for the delivery of community infrastructure, facilities and services for the residents of Wellington. Given our work programme ahead, now more than ever, effective spend with our suppliers will positively impact how far we can stretch our budgets and ultimately will impact rates.
The procurement strategy adopted by WCC focuses on ensuring good public value and proactively achieving tangible social, economic, cultural, environmental and public wellbeing outcomes.
