As the flagship brand in the Freightways Group, NZ Couriers has enjoyed strong growth over recent years, and we are looking for an experienced Branch Manager to join our team.

About the Role

As Christchurch Branch Manager you will be responsible for the operational and financial success of our Christchurch branch. Our business is experiencing significant growth and this newly created role will focus on the development and delivery of strategies to ensure both service and financial KPIs are achieved across the business.

Based at our Christchurch branch, you will be a key member of the South Island Management Team. Identifying opportunities for growth and service improvement, fostering a culture of high performance, and delivering meaningful financial reporting and forecasting will be key areas of focus.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Inspiring Leadership - Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Coaching and mentorship - Skilled in developing talent, providing constructive feedback, and supporting career growth.
  • Health & Safety - foster a zero-harm culture across the business
  • Ensure Branch financial targets are met and analyse P & L to identify improvement opportunities
  • Data-Driven Decision Making – Ability to collect, interpret, and use data insights to drive operational improvements and service excellence.
  • Problem-Solving & Root Cause Analysis – Expertise in identifying trends, diagnosing issues, and implementing data-backed solutions.
  • Effective Communication – Strong ability to engage, influence, and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
  • Change Management – Capable of leading teams through change with resilience, adaptability, and strategic vision.
  • Foster strong customer relationships, seek out new opportunities to drive continued business growth


About You

People are at the heart of our business and your leadership approach should be people first. Empathy and an ability to connect with people at different levels and from all backgrounds will serve you well in this role. Experience in the courier or freight sectors will be an advantage, but we are open to candidates with strong transferable skills gained in other sectors. An understanding of high-volume, fast-paced operational environments will be a key strength. Previous responsibility for divisional P&L is preferred and you should be skilled at analysing data to find business insights.
