We are reshaping the way we deliver IT services at Massey University and are looking for an experienced and dynamic leader for our Planning, Governance & Resource Management Practice. You’ll be a seasoned professional with broad experience across business planning, governance and reporting in an IT environment. Well-versed in managing a diverse portfolio of responsibilities, your expertise will be crucial in enabling a smooth transition to a sustainable and future-proofed operating model for IT Services.

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role
The Practice Lead, Planning, Governance & Resource Management is responsible for the operational management and leadership of their practice area. The role looks after a diverse portfolio of responsibilities covering business and financial planning, governance, risk management, resource management, and IT asset and software lifecycle management.
Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
- Lead the business and financial planning for the IT department
- Develop and maintain best practice governance and risk-management frameworks
- Lead and advise on investment appraisal activities
- Manage the demand for capability and resources across the IT department
- Coordinate the effective optimisation of IT assets and licences
- Oversee the fulfilment of contractual obligations
Ko koe tēnei | Who You Are
- Tertiary qualification in IT or business management, or equivalent extensive industry experience
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in an IT or IT-related position, with a deep background in business planning, reporting and financial management
- Experience in building and effectively managing cohesive, high performing teams, including the ability to coach and develop a team
- Familiarity with current strategic issues facing IT departments (preferably in a University or NZ government context)

This is a full-time (37.5hrs) position and the team is based on our Palmerston North campus, which is the preferred location for this role. Consideration will also be given to candidates to be based at our Wellington Campus though regular travel to Palmerston North will be required. Appointment will be commensurate of skills and experience within the $130 - $170K range.
