Located in a welcoming, family-friendly community, BestStart Styx Mill is a small, nurturing centre licensed for 66 children, including 16 under 2s. Our beautiful, natural outdoor play spaces and thoughtfully designed indoor environments provide rich, meaningful learning experiences for our tamariki. About the Role

We currently have a permanent part-time position available for a Teacher in Training working 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday, on rotating shifts between 7:30am and 5:30pm. This role is likely to be based in our beautiful Nursery space, supporting our youngest tamariki, with the flexibility to work across other age groups depending on your interests and strengths.

What We’re Looking For

Enrolment in a Level 7 ECE Bachelor or Graduate Diploma qualification (or a strong interest in beginning this journey)
A genuine love for working with children
Good understanding of a child-led curriculum and the ability to plan and extend on children’s learning
Sound knowledge of current ECE regulations, Te Whāriki, and a commitment to compliance
A strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi through inclusive, respectful pedagogical practices
Caring, reliable, and eager to learn, with the ability to work well in a collaborative team
