The Tararua Alliance, a collaborative partnership between Tararua District Council and Downer, is seeking a skilled and motivated Asset Manager to lead and enhance our asset management capabilities.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in ensuring sustainable, best-practice asset management for transportation and other infrastructure activities within the district. The successful applicant will have the unique opportunity to choose whether they would like to be employed by Tararua District Council or Downer, allowing you to select the organisation that best aligns with your career goals.
As the Asset Manager, you will provide technical asset management services and leadership, with a primary focus on transportation infrastructure. You will lead the asset team in developing and implementing investment strategies, maintenance programs, and renewals forward works programs. Your work will be essential in ensuring long-term asset sustainability while meeting key reporting requirements and fostering strong stakeholder relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain strong working relationships within the Tararua Alliance and Tararua District Council infrastructure teams
- Oversee asset reporting, ensuring accurate and timely submissions
- Develop and refine asset management systems and processes in collaboration with the Downer National Asset management Team
- Ensure effective asset information management, data quality, and system use (e.g., AWM/RAMM)
- Collaborate with the delivery teams to develop effective annual and rolling maintenance programs
- Oversee data analysis and modelling to assess current and future asset conditions
Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills
You will have proven industry experience and knowledge in infrastructure asset management and along with:
- BE (Civil), NZ Diploma in Engineering (Civil) or other relevant tertiary qualification
- Proven experience in infrastructure asset management, ideally in the transportation sector
- Experience managing supplier/service provider relationships and stakeholder engagement
- Commercial acumen with an understanding of financial and risk management principles
- Effective written and oral communication skills with ability to communicate complex technical issues in a clear and rigorous manner that influences others
- Demonstrated leadership ability, empowering and guiding teams to success
- The ability to analyse complex datasets to better inform decision making
