Job Description

Position Overview
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic Events Coordinator to join our Massey Events and Sponsorship team!

If you are creative, have an eye for logistics, love bringing new ideas to life and are passionate about creating a great student and stakeholder experience – we want to hear from you!

As part of the Marketing and Communications portfolio, the Massey Events and Sponsorship team works across the Auckland, Manawatū, and Wellington campuses. While this role is based in at our Pukeahu campus in Wellington, you will collaborate with team members and teams across campus locations to deliver the major University events, including but not limited to:

  • Orientation twice a year in February and July
  • Graduation ceremonies throughout the year
  • Open days – our biggest recruitment and profile-raising events
  • Blues sporting Awards in October
  • New Zealand Food Awards in October
  • Alumni events
  • Building and facility openings


The ability to travel at times during the year is essential as is a reasonable level of fitness due to event days being physically demanding.

The salary band for this position is $56,622 - $80,006 (2024) based on skills and experience.

It is preferable that you have the following experience:

  • Managing and delivering a range of events and activities
  • Working in the tertiary environment
  • A tertiary qualification is desirable
  • Keeping within and managing budgets for events and activities


The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:

  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent communications skills (oral, written, and listening)
  • Ability to work well, both independently and in a team environment
  • Good digital literacy skills
  • An awareness of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its contribution to Aotearoa New Zealand society
  • The ability to think outside the box and be creative
  • High level of initiative
  • To be a reliable and positive team member with a can-do attitude
  • Full, clean driver’s license required
