Far North District Council has a significant project portfolio to deliver on our strategic objectives which will result in a variety of placemaking, construction, business, planning and infrastructure contracts, as well as our large operational and maintenance contracts.

We are seeking an experienced Contract Management professional to be part of the Project Management Office (PMO), who will manage and further develop the organisations contract management framework to support post award activities at FNDC.

This is an exciting opportunity to provide hands on technical expertise and shape the way our staff manage contracts and legally binding agreements, identify opportunities for improvement and act as the subject matter expert for contract management best practice. You will also lift the capability of staff undertaking contract management activities by providing guidance and direction, as well as training and quality assurance.

Critical to the success of this role is the ability to advise key stakeholders including contract owners and operations staff, manage supplier relationships and contract performance issues, as well as having the required technical skills and career experience.

This role will also act as SME for the implementation of an automated system to manage and report on procurement and contract management activities.

Ideally, you will also have some experience in public sector procurement so you can provide technical support to our busy Procurement team and general advice to staff.

I ā koe - About You

  • Degree or Diploma in a relevant discipline such as law, commerce, business, procurement, supply chain management.
  • Ideally you will have at least five years’ contract management experience and commercial acumen
  • A good understanding and appreciation of the workings and functions of public sector or local government
  • Demonstrated experience in the practical application of NZS3910 and other forms of contracts
  • Experience in using a Contract Lifecycle Management System.
  • Knowledge of the application and implications of contract law, other procurement related legislation and standards and well-honed negotiation skills.
  • Experience and knowledge of different types of contracts
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
