The Company
This company is a Christchurch based consultancy who provide civil and structural engineering. They work with local government, businesses, developers and architects to provide an integrated range of services; structural engineering, civil engineering and draughting.

They work across a large variety of sectors including commercial, residential, education, Industrial and more including some iconic, award winning projects.

Due to high demand they have an opening for an Intermediate Civil Engineer to join their team and provide end-to-end design and project management delivery.

The Role

• Design of all civil elements and producing drawings and the basis of design reports for commercial, residential and industrial projects.
• Provide efficient and high-quality civil engineering designs in Civil 3D and all other outputs required for resource consent, building consent and construction including reporting.
• Help develop Civil 3D processes and provide mentorship in developing graduates and technicians in the Civil Engineering Team with designing projects fully in Autodesk Civil 3D.
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with clients and internal project leads on the civil engineering aspects of projects
• Plan and carry out the steps required to complete individual project designs
• Understand clients, councils and other regulatory authority requirements
• Identify opportunities to save on construction costs through innovative design
• Prepare all civil engineering aspects for consenting, construction, and project design reports along with occasional construction monitoring.

About You

• 3-6 years experience with at least 1 year in NZ
• Proficient in Civil 3D software essential
• Experience in designing commercial developments beneficial
• Use of stormwater software like HEC and/or HydroCAD beneficial but not essential .
• Experience in civil design and 3D modelling
• Tertiary qualification – Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
• Working towards CPENG beneficial not essential
• Good understanding of NZ civil engineering building codes and council guidelines
