Job Description

  • We're looking for someone who loves customer service

Kia mahi ngātahi mō Pōneke mō tōna āpōpō Working together for Wellington's future.
We're Working for Wellington. Wellington City Council's team provides more than 400 services every day for Wellingtonians - everything from parks and pools to consents and cemeteries - playing our part in making Pōneke an inclusive, sustainable, and creative capital for people to live, work and play.

Sitting within the wider Finance and Business team you will find our busy Rates team who manage all rates functions for Wellington City Council. Playing an important part in ensuring that the Council is funded so we can continue to do the important mahi in the community.

The role & you
The Rates Transaction Co-ordinator is responsible for contributing to ensure that all rate records are correctly maintained, while working across the wider rates function and assisting customers with questions on their accounts.

A day in this role might include processing rates rebates, remissions, water rate readings, and adjusting rates records and direct debits. You'll work with an established team - with a lot of experience to learn from.

This is more of a customer service-based role (with interactions with ratepayers mainly done through our ticketing system but also over the phone and in person) than a finance one - so you'll need to be someone who enjoys working with people and finding solutions. If you've worked with large amounts of data that will be a bonus though. Training is provided, but you will need to be comfortable working in a Microsoft365 environment and have accurate data entry/administration skills.

You can find out more in our position description on our career's website.

We are looking to appoint between $59,987 - $70,572 per annum (pro rata), for this role, depending on relevant skills and experience.

Why us?
There are great career opportunities - the Team Leader who started in a very similar role has been promoted to other roles within the Finance team before coming back to lead our Rates crew.

Applications close 25 February 2025. All applications must be submitted online, and applicants must have the current right to work in New Zealand.
