Job Description

As Associate Director, you’ll play a key role in the strategic delivery of high-quality HR and ER services. You’ll lead complex consultancy projects for our clients, build strong client relationships, support and mentor team members, and contribute to the growth of our business through referrals and account growth.

You’ll work closely with a dynamic team and report to the Director. This role is ideal for a senior Employment Relations practitioner or Employment Lawyer who thrives on helping business owners navigate complex people challenges and make confident, compliant decisions.

What You’ll Be Doing

HR & ER Consultancy

Lead and deliver on disciplinaries, restructures, investigations, mediation, performance management, grievance management and remuneration projects for our clients

Provide compliance-focused, high-quality HR/ER advice

Conduct client audits and support process improvement

Client Management

Own relationships with key accounts

Drive growth and retention across client accounts

Ensure satisfaction and consistency in delivery

Sales & Business Development

Collaborate with the BDM to generate referrals and drive new business through networks

Support Knowhow’s continued growth and innovation

Operations & Compliance

Maintain accurate, billable timesheets

Ensure compliance with company policies and health & safety standards

What We’re Looking For

Proven senior-level experience in Employment Relations, ideally gained within a consulting firm, legal practice, or as an independent advisor.

Strong knowledge of NZ employment law and HR best practices

Skilled in managing complex employee relations issues

Confident communicator with a client-first mindset

Commercially savvy, with a knack for building lasting relationships

A team player who leads with integrity, care, and curiosity
