Shop Manager

Permanent Part-time (34.5 hours per week)

New Plymouth

About the role – Kōrero mō te tūranga

In this role you will:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the shop, including presentation, stock-sorting, pricing and opening and closing procedures
  • Lead a team of Assistant Managers, Volunteers and support an effective and collaborative team environment , while maintaining shop rosters to ensure effective stop operations
  • Recruit, train and retain shop employees with the support of the Retail Regional Manager
  • Foster a positive team culture by providing training and development opportunities to enhance customer service and skills.
  • Provide superior customer service and lead by example, maintaining professionalism and ensuring all employees and volunteers reflect the New Zealand Red Cross values
  • Provide monthly reports on shop performance, sales trends, donations, and volunteer activities to the Retail Regional Manager


Who are we looking for? – Mā‎ wai te mahi nei?

To be successful you will have:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of retail operations, stock management, sales drivers, administration, banking and cash handling
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in a management role, preferably in retail or a customer service orientated role,
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, train, and develop teams, ensuring high performance and fostering a positive work environment.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, including the ability to manage difficult situations and de-escalate conflicts effectively.
  • Knowledge around ensuring all goods are priced with in the Price guidelines
  • Experience in training and leading volunteers with diverse skills and abilities
  • The ability to work at least one weekend day as required
